Relaxation and Stress Management.

As we build our skills in business, we should also spend time learning and remembering how to truly relax.

Embrace relaxation and de-stress your body and mind with Yin Yoga.

Yin Yoga with its gentle long-held stretches is the perfect balance to other more energetic types of yoga, sport, or physical activity. It offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Using props to remove muscle tension, Yin Yoga focuses on the deeper tissues of the body – strengthening, stretching, and stimulating to recover flexibility and encourage freedom of movement while simultaneously releasing deep tension of the body and relaxing the nervous system.

Yin Yoga combines seated or lying down postures and emphasizes work on the tendons, ligaments and fascia of the hips, legs, and lower back. This allows for a deep release of tension, improved circulation, and increased range of motion.

This incredibly effective style of yoga is suitable for everyone, regardless of flexibility or fitness level. Sessions can be tailored for groups and individuals.

“I started Yin Yoga with Tara to reduce the stress in my shoulders and back and found it was wonderful. I then had an injury that kept me away from Yin for 18 months. It was then that I found out that my staff were very keen for me to return to Yin – apparently I am more relaxed and reasonable to deal with when I am attending Yin regularly.

As the Senior Partner it was illuminating for me to learn that the staff had even noticed! I can recommend Tara as an excellent teacher. Her ability to explain what to do and why works well for me as does her care in finding alternatives when something is just not working for my body.”

Main Physical Benefits
  • Improve range of motion and flexibility
  • Turn off the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and turn on the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest)
  • Improve heart rate variability through mindful, slow breathing
  • Passively lengthen muscles through stressing the fascial bags that wrap the muscles. Especially beneficial for larger muscles groups like the hamstrings
  • Reduce acute inflammation and balance immune system responses
  • Reduce adhesions and scar tissue that restrict movement between the sliding surfaces of the muscles
  • Stimulate the growth of the cells responsible for creating collagen, elastin and the molecules that hydrate the tissues and joints
  • Makes ligaments thicker and stronger through greater collagen production
  • Allows joints to move and facia to slide more easily
  • Keeps skin looking younger through hydration
  • Helps reduce degeneration of the bones and cartilage
  • Reduce fixation, a condition that limits the movement of our joints, as thus prevents fusion, a permanent loss of mobility in the joint
  • As stress levels drop, we reap many health benefits such as blood pressure drops, heart rate slows, immune system reactivates, digestion improves, and inflammation decreases
